    Default The Final Project

So I Finished my final School project, Its a stool made from MDF with an oak face, and Oak strips, Designed for a modernized pub bar stool, but still keeping to the traditional wooden theme. Streamline morderne design movement! (Pictures below) Question is now, Is it good enough to sell? Or do i keep it? Or is it worth selling the design to a company?
Feedback, opinions and advice would be much appreciated thanks!

From an insurance view point I doubt the stool, in the present shape, would be used in a pub. The foot, I think, is too narrow (one way) to be stable. OH&S would not approve them in a workplace either IMHO.

    Thumbs up

My first thoughts were along the same lines as Masoth's.

That does not detract from the quality of your work, however.I would not say that you have "modernized' the stool. For me it harks back to the wonderful world of Art Deco. For that reason alone I like it.

Just had some thoughts about stability. If a footrest bar was added then it would mean that people would be more inclined to sit on the stool in the correct orientation.

I tested the stool on carpet, hard wooden flooring and concrete and i had no problems with stability, must admit tho the long stem and top heavy seating did pivot!, I resolved this problem by putting shoulders on the inside of base to wedge the stem of the stool in between.
And I did not have time to make a foot rest, Ive got plans to add a teardrop shaped footrest made from Brass bar. Dont know if i will get around to doing it! haha.
Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated!
