Has anyone had a problem getting refunds from Jason from Fine tools Australia.
I'm having a hell of a time getting a return postage refund.

Geoff, I only received a refund as I brought in Paypal. I am still out of pocket for postage ... and not a bloody word from Jason. Never again.

If you paid via cc just do it via cc. You will get your money back

Hello Upsy, I have purchased may times from this company. Narex tools and Luban tools are very good, not sure about Axminister though sold in UK a lot. Try a simple purchase, I dont think you will be disappointed . VOLVO

Did you see qwertyu's post above? It seems that if you had activated the Paypal "refund button" prior to the purchase then you would have gotten the postage back as well. But who knows that button actually exists? Lesson for all Paypal users.

Personally, I prefer not to deal with Paypal as I am not prepared to give them unfettered access to my bank accounts. My business colleagues report too many reversed transactions for the most nefarious reasons, or without explanation. Their judgement is that they basically have to deal with Paypal but there is a very high and undisclosed cost of doing so.

Graeme, the postage I was referring to was the amount I paid when returning the items (incorrect plane blades) for replacement or refund. The amount was small ($5), and the understanding was that this amount would be refunded. Jason had corresponded with me before returning the items, but he went into silent mode afterwards. No emails, no refund and no exchange. I contacted Paypal after a few more weeks. They force a refund of the contracted amount (purchase and original shipping), but not extras. I have been down this path with them before - if you put in a complaint, they only permit a single invoice to be processed. The return postage was minor, but left a further bad taste in the mouth.

@Volvo, what company are you talking about? FTA? If so, I think the thread here speaks for itself and suggests a greater need for the buyer to beware. If not FTA, then you should offer up the company name or a link, as that seems to be missing....

Agree with nasty taste, Derek. But qwertyu's original post no. 44 specifically referred to return postage.

A lot of people in the commercial world have major integrity issues with Paypal. Hence I choose not to deal with them.

Paypal were wonderful to us, earlier this year we went Ebay shopping and spent $2560 on a laser cutter, when we FINALLY got it working correctly (computer software stuff) it lasted 2 months then died. The main control panel was suspected to be the culprit by a sparkie who did all sorts of tests.
complained to ebray and got fobbed around.
Then lodged complaint with Paypal and full refund within 3 weeks, just as they suggested.

We lost on freight but that was out of the equastion anyway. Seller advertised 'free Australian delivery' yeah sure bucko as long as you lived in capital cities, outside of that its another story.

My Paypal transactions (not with FTA) must run into many hundreds. Never had a problem. Ever.

I’ve had returns and refunds - all have been prompt and accurate. Given that I’ve dealt with people and firms in England, Switzerland, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, USA, Canada, Africa and Hungary I’m definitely happier to have Paypal access my account rather than giving my credit card details to all and sundry.

I bought some stepper controllers over eBay from a seller supposedly in Darwin. Parts arrived but were not the same as those advertised after done testing and Google searching - cheap copies.
Paypal found in my favour and offered a full refund as long as I returned them. Fair enough - not too bad to send to Darwin.
Then I got the return address and it was China. I complained to Paypal that I had bought them in good faith from Darwin but they said if I wanted a refund I would have to send to China. It was too expensive - would have got about $5 back after freight.

The last few items I have bought on eBay all have a Sydney suburb address but when they arrive they have come from China. eBay won’t do anything about it even though it really is false advertising.

Lappa, I have taken to giving a negative feedback when falsely advertising the origin. They know that they are being deceptive.
