    Me and a hand plane sounds like a dangerous combination. I have visions of great chunks being ripped off
    When I finish my current project I think I will go down the ROS path, and look around at what is available. Being the type of tool that would get repeat use i'd be prepared to spend a bit more than 50 bucks on one.

    Good plan. Go to a specialist tool shop - not bunnings - and you will get a better sander. Think of Bosch (blue range) or metabo.
