Just finished bandsawn box course
I have just finished a two day bandsawn box course held at Artisans Retreat in Mondrook (near Taree). The course was conducted by Alan Williams whose work is excellent and placed in a number of galleries including Bungendore Wood Works Galery. This was a very hands on course and can recommend it to anyone interested in this type of work. Also great lunches provided by the Retreat.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Nice Bob. I saw Allans work on the weekend. Wish I had the time to attend a couple of those classes. I hope to do a course with Doug Moseley the blacksmith from the expo, when they set it up.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

He had a lot of people interested in his work on the Saturday of the expo. You should have fun on the course judging by the time I spent watching him - facinating!

Sir Stink, I will take some photos tomorrow and post. There were six on the course and we all made the same small box. This took most of the first day with some finishing done on the second. We then selected a project of our choosing from a selection pf drawings provided. As we really only had half a day for this, we left with the cutting out done and the project to be finished at home. I am almost there. Another project is running interference at the moment.

Sorry about no pics. Had two attempts at putting them up and each time was advised that a security token was missing, so no dice.Never seen this before and had no problems before. Since last lot of pics went up I have changed to Windows7 and the latest version of Bitdefender for the firewall and virus checker. Anyone got any ideas.

Hi Bob,
No idea about you uploading issue unfortunately but you could upload onto a photo sharing site, such as Photobucket and link to your photos there.

How many pics are you loading? Some times splitting them over a couple of posts helps.

Tried to upload the photos again from an XP system using an older version of Bitdefender. This has been attempted from three different systems now. Starting to think that the problem is not at this end. Can upload photos to other sites. Time for maybe a moderator to get invovled.

Gooday Bob. Are you trying to post them in their original size, i.e. 1.3 MB?
If so they need to be resized. That is what I did to the one above.
Our software cannot shrink them if they are too big.

Thanks . I usually do resize my images. However, I thought that I had done direct uploads from this camera in the past. Guess that I was wrong - or a senior moment
The first two images are of the box that we all made. With the general introduction, instructions, and questions, this box took about a day and a half. I suspect that if I was to do one now it would take a couple of hours up to the finishing stage. Possibly less.
The remaining images are of a project that I chose. Others did different designs. As we only had half a day left with Alan the goal was to get it cut out to be finished at home. This is as far as I have got. Still have to apply the finish.Bob

Hi Bob ..... well worth the wait for the images.
The first one looks like a good design to start with however I am not a huge fan of the form.
As for the second one ..... that is a real winner and I love it. It looks as if you have done a fine job on both, but I am really taken by the second.
I would love to see further progressions / advancements on the second form when you start your third.
Cheers

As mantioned Stinky, the first was just a basic box to get us going and to learn the technique. Obviously I liked the second design as that is the reason I chose it. Whilst I do have another design of Alan's, I am basically on my own now. My biggest problem at the moment is timber. Not being a bandsaw box maker I don't have any big lumps of wood to work with - everything is a slab!
