I fight fires regularly at work, nature of the industry Im in. Quite often its caused by a molten metal spill burning anything flamable in its path... We use and MT extinguishers all the time, even sometimes use machinery to smother fires, forklifts with rotating head/tynes and tubs full of dross(stuff looks like dirt) which we tip over the molten metal to stop it from flowing any further and smother the flames!
Ever seen a calcium/magnesuim fire, cant put bugger all on it, makes it flare up worse, we dig a hole in the ground and bury it... its water ingnites it in the first place!
Its a spectacular site too see the first time, just like fireworks.....................................................................

One thing I have been disapointed about is the cost of fire extinguisher service & testing compared to replacing with new.
Some of mine were due for presure test so I had the job quoted. I cost almost as much as a new unit to have an extinguisher presure tested & refilled.

Yes,
Workshop x 2 (dry chem & water), house x 2 dry chem, vehicles 1 each. I also have a fire blanket on standby in the workshop + a barrel of sand.
You never know, I may want to move into the construction business and build sand castles one day.

Yup!
2 in shed, 2 in house, 1 in each car.
The houses' alarm system has a heat & smoke sensing capability, if it is set off & not cancelled within 45 seconds an alarm is sent to the monitoring station & the Fire Brigade are called.
The alarm system musta cost a bomb to put in, I glad I didn't pay for it.

Safety first
Its looking good for yes havent used at 65% so safety awareness is prevalent here. I wonder how many of the 65% also take full safety precautions with machinery and still have all there dangly bits and how many of the dont haves also dont have all their bits or are we afraid to own up.
I have one from a car that I sold a year ago and fortunately havent used but I have had a few close calls with with the table saw (unguarded im afraid). Maybe I should put it back on and keep all my bits attached.
