Default Does anyone know of a firm that can repair...

    Gday all

Got a bit of a problem from the move over here. The movers broke the arms off the Chippendale chair (see attached) that I have and I need to find a firm that has the ability to repair it (I'm can't for insurance purposes)

So if you know of anyone can you let me know

Yes, but their arms are broken off.

You could try Roy Schack or Bob Howard. Think they're at Woolongabba.

I hope that the insurance covers the medical bill for the removalists - what a rotten shame...

You didn't really want an answer to that last question did you? Bit hard to put a value based on that photograph but Chippendale style chairs are not cheap.

This is definitely a job for the professional, especially if the insurance people are paying.

did Chip himself make it or is it reproduction. how much do you think its worth? 500 1000 1500? mathewa gave the impression he could fix it. so if the insurance companie is true to form and is forcing money onto him for some one to fix it and he dosnt want to, then why not send it to me. it looks as though a few dowells and epoxy will do the trick

Chippendale was a furniture designer not a furniture maker

Heathen and Mongrel! Epoxy and Dowels - on a Chippendale designed chair, no doubt made by a master. Shame on you

For penance, thou shalt flagellate thouself with a bandsaw blade, each and every hour, for a week. Then immerse thineself self in boiling shellac. Then, and only then wilst thou become clean and fit for the intercourse of woodies:eek:

I think youl find he was a third genaration all rounder. crafstman, joiner, and carpenter who favored design as he grew up. after he wrote cabinetmakers director is when he became associated with design more than making
