Help please?
im in the middle of a guitar project and am needing to shave a few mm off the back of the body and was thinking a thickness planer would do the job, but i dont own one... my question is does anyone know if there is a walk-in DIY workshop where you can pay to use their machines/tools in the southside of brisbane? i am based in logan city and dont want to travel too far. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Seconded on Wood n You. Failing that, find a local workshop that will do it for you for a 6 pack.
PeterThe other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

For such a small area why not use a hand plane. Being flat is not even critical here and in my opinion not desirable either give it some shape.

I do not make guitar's but make sure the machine you use is well set up and very sharp, or you may find it will just tear it to peices

thats what im worried about, but what ive read on the wood n you website they seem to be well maintained.
as for the guitar back not having to be flat i would have to disagree. most guitars(if not all) have a control/tremolo cavity which is covered by a flat piece of acrylic and wouldnt look very impressive if their were gaps. so thats why im after a thicknesser.
