Flattening a ceramic stone
Hi,
I have a ceramic stone (spyderco fine) which I bought about 10 years ago. It has an un-even surface nothing major but enough to stop you getting a good final polish on a plane blade or chisel. The un-evenness shows up as streaky lines and dots on the surface of the stone as it clogs. It is not really out of square, so it doesn't need really aggressive attention.
The grit rating is about 8000 I would guess, the rating given by Spyderco is the somewhat un-helpful.
I have thought about diamond paste on a glass plate, I imagine this would be the only thing hard enough to cut the ceramic. I am not sure about glass. Would a large ceramic tile be better?
Also what grades of diamond paste would I need, where do you get the stuff and what does it cost?

I imagine what works for Shaptons would work here (a special flattening plate). Anything else is too soft for ceramic stones. I am not sure who stocks these locally.
Regards from Perth
