Default Where to find Float Glass in Brisbane

As the title suggests, I was wondering where to get thick 8"x3" float glass in Brisbane?

the background: I've read a fair few posts of people sticking their sharpening stones to float glass to make them last longer. Recently, one of my stones that came with a wooden base has developed cracks - I think due to the expansion / contraction of the base and another is getting thin, so I was looking for thick 8"x3" float glass to glue them to - and a few spare to try out some scary sharp. The glass people I've contacted pretty much don't seem to want to do small pieces / want a fortune / don't stock it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

A better way is to get a small granite surface plate. Carbatech stock them and they are certified to be flat within a few micron.

Can you find a business which polishes +/- installs stone/granite countertops?
Judging by the quality of the reflection from the polished surface, they seem to be nearly optically flat. The dimensional stability of wood is far less than the surface quality of the stone.
Of course, they have to make the cutouts for sinks. 40 pallets with 30-50 pieces each, sitting in the rear "junk yard." end cuts, off cuts and sink hole cutouts. All 37mm or so.
"Take whatever you want, just don't mess up the piles, OK?"
So, I helped myself to a dozen.

There is a glassworks at Yatala that would have it or be able to get it or know where you could get it I would think. I have a collection of stones from 250 to 13000 but when they die I will get diamond plates.

If you're on Brisbane's southside you could try Frog Glass in Acacia Ridge.

I investigated this when considering scary sharp sharpeniong method. Went the way of waterstones in the end.

    Good luck.
