I intend to lay a floating floor. I will sand the old one if need be,
do I lay the new one same as floor boards are running or across

I have laid one in the same direction as the floorboards and had no problems. If the existing floor is sound and the gaps between are tight then it is ok to go whatever way you like. For a less than perfect floor then I would go across the lay. I seem to remember that the packs of floating floor came with quite good instructions.
Regards

Laying floating floor
Hi Defender,
Orraloon has it right first time subject to the following . Correct me if I'm wrong but we are talking about floating floor product that sits atop a substrate of 2.5 or so thick polystyrene mat or variants thereof and is not physically attached to the existing floor except by electrostatic attraction.
Cheers Old Pete
