Flood proof kitchen cabinets on the market
A Townsville cabinet maker is now using Nuvex to make cabinets, and claims it is flood proof. Have a look here.
Anyone had any experience with this board?regards,

Nope. But I'm going to have to remake our kitchen, soon, so thanks for the tip-off. I'm certainly unimpressed with Melamine - the house is only 13 years old, & the kitchen cupboards look VERY tired. I much prefer all-wood doors, but the boss likes the 'cleanability' of plastic. I guess you can all predict whose preference will prevail......
Cheers,IW

We installed an al-fresco/outdoor kitchen a couple of weeks ago for a client. The carcass was a plastic sheet (Cowdroy Neva) that cuts, drills, screws etc like melamine coated sheets . Totally waterproof etc, white mid gloss finish. Sheets are about 5 times the cost of melamine. The doors used in this one were ali framed glass doors rather than a colour board version of the plastic sheet.
The main issue we had with it was peeling the protective plastic layers off and cleaning the adhesive residues off. However I am not sure of the flamability of the stuff, we lined the entire BBQ well with fibro to ensure isolation between the hot BBQ and the carcass.

Melamine on HMR (highly moisture resistant) MDF or chipboard is pretty good. I've left a piece of HMR MDF outside for about 3 years and theres only a little bit of swelling at the edges
