Sure isn’t one of these Starrett pull scrapers.
They weren’t in production until 1910.
Found it in the stash just last week, lost it years ago.
Must tidy up the shed one day.

one things for sure. it would hard pushing the plane and pulling the scraper. cutting through the finish and all the embedded dirt would kill the edge real fast on blades even in modern ones. you'd need the wine to dull the drudgery and aches.

looking at the second painting, i suspect they have some home grown knee pads...
