Foilboard insulation question
After unsuccessfully searching the forum for an entry I saw some time back on using Foilboard to insulate a colorbond shed, I am requesting information from anyone who has used it. Does it work well, and how did you fit it to the walls. I can see a couple of ways to install it, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Any insulation is better than no insulation.
I had the soft foil insulation put up in the ceiling by the shed people, but put up ordinary R3 insulation on the walls covered by 16 mm ply myself. Worth its weight in gold
cheers

Hi Wendy, my shed should go up in about 3 weeks time. Slab down and shed on order. Will post pics of the project soon. Currently evaluating insulation options, The attraction of foilboard is that it is just that - a board with a shiny side. Am looking at all options, just want more info on this product.

A timely post Bob - I'm currently dithering about what to do in my own shed. I've done the walls with glass wool batts covered by ply (mostly discarded 3/8" packing crate material
). That doesn't make much difference to heat gain, yet, though it has cut noise down a lot. I'm really keen to get the roof done soon, this Summer nearly fried my few remaining neurons!
Originally, I was going to use rigid foam pieces rebated so they pop between the purlins & hang on the lip (the steel purlins in my Titan shed are like an inverted 'U' with a lip either side). This would be easy & leave a good air gap above the foam. The 'lecky who wired me up has done this in his shed, & he reckoned it was A1.
However, I'm having great difficulty finding a retail source of the foam, so after much searching I was considering the thinner foil-backed stuff, which comes in 2400 x 1200 sheets, & sticking it to the purlins with glue.
I spent a while talking to various sales types, trying to get straight answers about the R value of this stuff, as the claimed figures seem pretty dodgy to me (armed with my limited knowledge of conduction, convection & radiation from Physics 101). The sales types know even less about heat transfer than I do, & the answers ranged from the evasive to the ridiculous.
So I'll be following this thread with interest.......
