New Folding outfeed table and saw wing infill
Ive started on a full workshop makeover...first step was a new outfeed table for the table saw.The one i had before on the old saw was good but this time i wanted to make a few changes.
First thing was i didnt reckon i needed it the full width of the saw (i only cut a full sheet once in a blue moon)so 600mm wide ment that 95% of jobs would be suited. Also when i refit the shop it will give me room beside the table to use the drill press (at this stage thats where its going)
I wanted to have a full run through for my sled (start on that tomorrow) and for those times when i have something long , a fold up extension .That way only the area i really need is being used ,and with the extension down i have plenty of room behind for where the jointer and router table are going to be.
I welded up a sliding support for the extension and it seems to work well, there is a bit of sag...but that wont be a problem..the main part is dead level and sits almost 1mm below the tablesaw height so there wont be any catching as wood is feed through.
Made of 2 sheets of ply glued and screwed together the table is strong , hardwood trim will take of bumps and add to strength.
The laminex top makes for a nice slick surface.
I might add a small shelf . not quite sure yet....plan to make a pull out cabinet to fit under the right wing to hold push sticks and jigs..so a shelf might not be needed..but i hate wasting space.

Nice job, and nice saw
I made one similar recently but I haven't added the mitre slot extensions yet. I just fold it down if I need to use the sled. I have an adjustable, hinged leg and the whole table folds flat against the front of the saw. Those were the droids I was looking for.

Good job on the extention.
Does look a little crowded so using as much of the space as possible good idea.

Ive got things all moved around at the moment in the way...have to try and do the refit by moving a to b to c back to a then to c....the dustcollector is going to go outside, until then its going to be a pain working around things esp when i pull out the cabinets to replace them...
