One foot two feet
Not really woodwork related but I know lots of people here are interested in this sort of thing.
It turns out that the Seppos have not one but two feet measurements, and the best bit - the US Imperial system is based on the metric system.

if you get paywalled, I’ll paste the whole article. The world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

I don't know quite how to respond as how small 0.02 foot is in relation to 2 Km and not wanting to incur Neil's wrath.
Anyway I worked on a county survey crew about 60 years ago. When I asked the party chief why not feet and inches, his answer has stayed with me all these years.
"Only carpenters and 'Ladies of the evening' use feet and inches." Not exactly his words but close enough for a family forum.

Seems ironic that a country that fought a war of independence with Britain still uses King Henry's foot as a unit of measure.

Thanks, this explains a lot. Clearly half of my imperial tape measures are survey feet, the others international. So even though I measure twice, I'm doomed to failure.
(not to mention the ruler with inches and, not centimetres, but 1"/pi apparently intended to simplify the determination of the circumference of an object which I find myself doing frequently, at least 2 or 3 times a year

Hi,
You guys are lucky, you did not have the Cape measures thrown in as well.

Some of you may know of Knots Berry Farm. Originally a restaurant but now an amusement or theme park. A long history and only a few minutes from Disneyland.
Back during the late 1980s or so a Halloween thing was started called Knots Scary Farm. The later TV commercials depicted a young adult girl being so frightened that she became a cardboard cutout in a state of shock. She was named, Rosemary Kabibi. She was the "The lights are on, but nobody's home" girl. Today, I think that she has been reincarnated as Donald Trump.
Yeah, I know it is a long way to Tipperary but I'm almost certain that Rosemary is running the country.
Today, Rosemary issued an order saying that school teachers don't need to be quarantined even with possible exposure.
