Default Forstener Bits - Where to buy

I want to get a set of Forstener Bits as buy once cry once sort of tool.

Considering FAMAG, Colt. Are there others one should consider and the all important bit of info, is where does one buy these from? If you have these, would you be willing to advise me where you bought them from?

    Thanks

I got some colt forstners as part of FenceFurniture's group buy. They are the dog's hairy danglies. Brett (FF) would be able to give you details of how he got them. I think it became quite a frustrating process for him, so he may froth at the mouth a bit.

Wish I'd got a set rather than a few individuals.

Fisch are an excellent brand of forstner bits. They are Austrian made. I bought mine on Amazon. They are expensive but cut a lovely smooth hole.

Timbecon has TCT forstner bits that are absolutely fantastic. They're pricey but I'm pretty sure the ones I have will last my lifetime. The machining is excellent and in a drill press I've gotten holes that are about as identical as one get in wood.

Carbitool has a very large range at really cheap prices, and they are a local supplier, free shipping over $90, but they also have a set of some common sizes cheap.

I've bought quite a few and they perform flawlessly, as you'd expect from Carbitool.

I have been struggling to find Colt forsteners which was one of the reasons for the thread. Old threads referenced infinty tools in the US but I couldn't find any on there but I did look again and they only have a couple morse tapers or a wooden box. I noticed this note

NOTE: COLT Closeout sale going on now! Deep discounts on quality Forstner Bits and Accessories. Supplies limited, when they're gone, they're gone!
Could this explain the difficulty in finding these?

I have both Fisch and Colt and both are excellent. The colt came from the same group buy via FF and the Fisch from Amazon.
