Introduction
As I move from fulltime employment to part-time to retirement I have been developing my range of interests. For years I have been dabbling in restoring cars and building model railways. In doing so I have been building up a collection of tools, both power and hand. My carpentry skills have all been self taught (apart from Manual Arts in Grade 8 at school) but it has allowed me to carry out maintenance and projects around the home. I have always been interested in working with wood but most work has been functional but simple.
As a project I decided to create a bar under the house. My mind has created this elaborate edifice that goes far beyond anything I have done before. To add to my situation I have inherited a collection of tools including about half a dozen planes of all different types and sizes. All haven't been used for years and are in need of servicing. My first thought was how? Then I wondered where to get help? I searched the web and came up with this forum. It appears to be just what I need. Expect to have plenty of questions posted for advice as I learn how to use my tools effectively and get closer to turning my mental images into real items.
One aspect of my future bar has been settled as I have just come into possession of a quantity of silky oak and red cedar. Now to learn how to do it justice.
I will be searching the forum for information as I have a list of power tools and accessories that I want ( Thicknesser, drill press, doweling jig, router accessories etc).
Regards
Kerry
