    G'day.

If you do a search on this board, I think one or two have been recommended in the past.

You can also try a Google search on the internet.
I know that the electronics hobbieists have found a few for drawing circuit diagrams.

Never mind free! Does anyone know of a drawing package that will take plan/ front elevation/ and side elavation and create a 3D view? The #D packages seem to be made for house builders!

    Hi

I went through this 6 months ago, most of the free CAD programs are cr&p.
I bought AutoSketch 8 for about $200, and it is brilliant.

AutoSketch 8 does basic 3D, but not anything to write home about.

Why would you want to write home ???
You'd be reading your own letters !

From whom did you purchase this wonderful package? I have Visio, works fine for 2D but while i cna see the 3D object, my clients mostly cannot!
I looked on the web for resellers in Oz, but could not find AutoSketch listed.
    Thanks again

I think you can get TurboCad 3D for win 95/98 pretty cheap, but you may have to search hard to find some old stock. TurboCad for XP costs a Motsa last time I looked but it is a very good program.

If you are just looking for a basic program that will let you draw up plans and elevations of your projects, then have a look at DeltaCad.

It's shareware so it's not free ($39.95 US) but it's very easy to learn and use.

    Works for me anyway.

Go here to download a demo copy

    jacko,

I bought AutoSketch from Harvey Norman; I reckon it is well worth the cost; I paid about $230 about three years ago. The learning curve is quite steep, but, once you master it, it is really useful.

I've got a copy of ecotect

    http://www.squ1.com/ecotect/ecotect.html

It's an great architectural tool focused on environmental design. But it
s CAD features are great for projects.

You can download a free trial version which is full featured but wont let you save. I hate to admit it but there are ways and means aruond that!

A full student license is over $10 i believe
    Cheers,

I was in Officeworks at West Gosford the other day and they had TurbCAD Designer 9.0 2D/3D for $99.
