Free timber - Melbourne
I have been offered some recently felled Poplar and Mahogany Gum trees which have been cut into various lengths. The timber is in Albert Park in Melbourne and is inaccessible until after the Grand Prix, but once that winds up, the timber has to go so the park can return to normal ASAP. If it's not removed, it will have to be chipped at some cost to Parks Victoria. The removal of these trees was part of routine arboreal management in the park and had nothing to do with the Grand Prix per se; however they have become temporarily isolated by the presence of the Grand Prix.
The timber must be removed at a predetermined time and as a lot i.e. whoever agrees to take the timber (or part thereof) must collect it in one go as the compound where it's presently located has to be opened by one of PV's personnel and they can't be running out to open the place up at every bid.
Anyone interested in this timber should contact me initially by PM. If it were possible, I would like a 'chunk' of the Mahogany Gum for the purposes of turning a few bowls/tool handles (if indeed it is suitable for handles) and I would graciously ask the eventual recipient of this timber to bear this in mind (I don't drive and have no means of collecting the timber)..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.
