Default Free wood has it's price

I managed to score some 120x50mm bluegum when they dismantled the stageing from an event in Sydney a few months ago. It had some nails and long screws in it and I thought I had got them all. I used the drill a hole beside the screw and punch it across method to get out the broken off ones. I was quite carefull and felt down all the holes with an awl to make sure before comittimg to the planer. That all went well and I thought I was on the hone run. I was making a knock down base for a barbeque table and used the bandsaw to shape the feet. Bad sounding scrape noise and cut stops. It was a hard tooth blade so is bu&&ered. Feel down the holes again, then bu&&er another blade. Wishing I had a metal detector by this time and looking for the blood pressure pills. I had to cut around all the holes where screws may be lurking and chop out the remainder with a chisel.
The project ended up ok and I guess I have a bit of a story to tell at barbeques now.
    Regards
    John

I got the top from Bunnies about 6 or 7 years ago. Cost $50 because they could not find the legs for it. It has just taken a while to get around to the legs. You know what to do lists are like.

Well I need not say it but I will.

    You need a metal detector.

    Very nice work.
