Question Friendly workshop in Adelaide's north that willbe happy to drumsand something for me?

Have a couple of short (~400) lengths of baltic floor board that I'd like to get drum sanded.
Any recommendations as to a workshop that would be happy to push them through their sander for me?
+ push through their table saw and trim the sides too.

Somewhere in Adelaide's northern suburbs would be ideal.....

Happy to bring a 6 pack or some dollars.

Thanks for the offer - very kind.
Normanville will be a great place to be in coming months - as the weather warms up. Nice!

However - you are 2+ hours away from me, one way - so I'll see if I can drum up something this end of town...

A lot of the cabinet making shops these days are basically mass production factories.
If a random like me walks in with 2 bits of baltic under the arm...... its not really something I expect they can help with.

Hopefully if there is an "old school" workshop in the back blocks somewhere that some can recommend - that will be ok to help with such a small thing - that would be fantastic.

I've had that problem here. What I did was to call a few cabinet shops and ask if they could do the sanding. One suggested another shop that did that for a fee. The shop charged $80 per hour with a half hour minimum. I had a large desk top that needed attention from their wide belt sander so $40 was a bargain.

Also we have a community college system (years 13 & 14). Some of these teach woodworking and have wide belt sanders. Usually the one nearby will sand items for a contribution to their support group.

Would love to help but the drum sander is on my wish list!
Are there any men's sheds near you?

So I looked a random cabinet maker in the yellow pages... with "custom" in the business name.
Thought that might mean they are more used to working with real wood etc.
    Dropped in to see them.
No drum sander, no thicknesses. Inspite of being a "custom" cabinet maker.. they do most of their stuff in fibre board or DAR.
    bugger.

There is a mens shed near by...
Pretty small place - hadn't thought that they would have much in the way of machinery.
Only one way to find out... I'll either give em a call or go see em.

    Cheers.

So the Mens Shed suggestion was the winner!
Dropped into local mens shed - their equipment is pretty basic - but made up for it with enthusiasm to help!

    All sorted.

    Cheers.
