Futon Sofa Bed
Hi all. I am hoping someone may give me a definitive answer on a query with a project I am making. Namely the futon sofa bed from Australian Woodsmith magazine issue 38 (or from the parent US version, in whatever issue that may be).
I specifically need to know the measurement where the stretchers join the legs, i.e how high up from the ground are they positioned. The mag has a detailed diagram but fails to address this rather critical point. Anyone made this project?
Any other tips I may need to know will be appreciated also

While the sizes are in imperial I think that this may help or at least give you and indication of where its suposed to be.
Hope it helps

Different Futon Bed design
Hi, thanks for the pdf. The pdf is of plans for something very similar but unf its dimensions are different to the one I've started on from Woodsmith mag. Looks like I'll take a punt and no doubt have to change the jig for the rollers to try fit as best I can. Here's hoping I can get it ok.
In the mag it says rout the jig grooves 32mm wide using a 16mm bushing and 1/2" bit, but that makes all the slots way to sloppy as the rollers are only 25mm wide, so am going to reduce the jig slot width 5mm, figure it has a bit of room (2mm total, 1mm either side of roller) but not "too" much play then. Or should I just make it 25, same as the rolers and have a nice tight smooth fit?
Hope its gonna all work! A bit anxious as I certainly don't wish to have to remake the ends all over again and it end up being even more expensive!:confused:One in the bush is better than two in the hand
