Gecko Poo fun
Thought that might make you click on the thread!
The little buggers are on my machinery. Luckily, my OCD tendencies mean that I check and wax my cast iron bits and pieces at least weekly, but I've still just had to go the full phosphoric acid/wire wool/wet or dry/machine wax process to recover a nasty little festering poo on the infeed table of the jointer...It's a wicked acidic, tarry excrement that rusts iron virtually on contact...
Anyone have any simple suggestions for keeping them out? I like them, don't want to kill them all, and have a semi 'open-air' set up here in QLD that keeps the dust issue to a minimum, so 'locking them out' isn't an answer... Is there a herb/plant/chemical that they hate? Artificial owl that has them running? Or a magic compound that resists their alien acid blood poo?
Happy New Year to all.

I have found that Camphor Laurel shavings keep them away.

Eucalyptus oil is supposed to put them off - maybe you could put a little in your machine wax Personally I can't stand the sight of the little mongrels so I've trained the dog to kill 'em

Hi jpdv, I replied to a previous post on this problem and my answer is to place a number mothballs around, works well for me albeit in an enclosed area. Have been using them now for over a year and no gecko's since. Brian.

I have this problem and so most of my machines are under old towels or sheets. Doesn't stop them crapping on benches and tables or works in progress or jigs or stored timber etc.
I don't like insects, which means I do like gekos but yeah these are not native ones and their mess is annoying.
I had put out a sign with your address on it, letting them know your place is Club Med for Gekos. I hope you don't mind. However either they can't read plain English or COVID travel restrictions mean that the sign has been ineffective. Actually they seem to have passed on a message from you, judging by what they left on the sign here.My YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/2_KPRN6I9SE
