Default The geometry of Gothic tracery

I have no idea if this is the best place to put this, but, I am trying to find a source that will allow me to understand the maths/geometry behind the tracery seen in Gothic churhc furniture. I have a book containing the plates from the Brandons' treatise on Gothic architecture.

As you can see from the sketch the centres of the arcs are shown. The problem is without knowing how those centres were constructed it is dificult to do anything other than copy the ornamentation. Similarly there is no indication on the construction of the various trefoil details within the created shapes I would like to be able to create all these details from scratch.
    Any ideas?
    Philip.

Hello Phillip, I think a good starting point is to research "sacred geometry". Here is a starting point:
    Sacred Geometry
I have a book with the same title and it's full of great info of this type. I think the author is Lawlar. You can probably find it on Amazon. The golden ratios play a big part in this type of architecture.
    Good luck.
    Eric
Edit. There's a few books with that title and Lawlor is one of them.

Are not Gothic arches simply two intersecting radii?

Just google 'geometry of gothic architecture', there's a nice PDF on the first page that tells you everything
