Best Glue question
I recently bought a roll of 2mm thick Blackwood timber edging. I’m planning to use it on Blackwood on MDF veneered board. I don’t have an edge bander so I’ll be applying the edging by hand. I was considering using Titebond Ultimate as the adhesive.
My plan is to edge to doors, drawer fronts and carcasses with 2mm. A while back I used 15mm thick solid Blackwood as edging and Titebond for adhesive. And it worked well.
I’m wondering if there’s a better choice of glue. And any hints on applying the edging that could make things easier. I’m open for suggestions🧐
Thank you.DustyDaz

If you have a lot to do, see how much local cabinet makers will charge to run it through their edgebander. I know it's cheating, but paying for an hour or 2 of their shop time beats spending a day gluing and trimming by hand (been there, done that)

And your local cabinet maker has the equipment to do a far better job than you will be able to.

That’s a bloody good idea. I remember how much time I spent on my last project using solid timber edging. Thanks for your response.

Yes they will. A good edgebander should be capable of trimming the edges as it’s applying edging. 👍

If you still want to do it yourself, take a look at FastCap SpeedTape: https://www.timbecon.com.au/fastcap-...-adhesive-tape
Use it in conjunction with a roller: https://www.timbecon.com.au/speedroller-pro, then to trim it down: https://www.timbecon.com.au/flush-cu...macro-standard and https://www.timbecon.com.au/fastcap-quad-edge-trimmer.
Worth getting if you regularly edgeband, and don't want to always farm out the work.

Sorry, you need to read more, either the original post (2mm solid timber edging) or the info on the links you provided, (flush cutters handle to 0.635mm, edge trimmer handles to 0.5mm). Somewhere along the way you missed the relevant pieces of information. The only things that the flush cutters and edge trimmers would handle that are found in OZ would be the ultra thin timber veneer edging or similar thickness plastic edging, they won't even handle 1mm PVC or ABS edging which is about as low down the scale as a cabinet maker will go.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
