    Default GMC Fixed Base Router

I was just at Bunnies and bought a GMC Fixed base router for $39. They also had 200mm bench grinders, jigsaws, RO Sanders, Hammer drills for same price.

I'll see how it works and probably dedicate it to a router table...

I have hopefully attached a piccie...

Hmmmm...I wonder if that's all Bunnings stores - I bought one when they first came out for about a $100 more. I bought it to dedicate to a blind dovetail jig, and I probably 'need' another one for the Beal wood threader I just got.

It still works OK, I keep putting one spanner on the wrong part of the shaft when changing bits tho'. I keep meaning to make 2 accessories - or maybe one multi-purpose one - a platform with a hole and bracing so I can keep the thing upside down while changing bits and one with a hole & no bracing so I can just stand it right side up when changing bits of wood.

Damn, you beat me by a minute with the same news. Posted mine in machinery.

I was told each store was supposed to get 100.

    Mine came from Shepparton today.

Thanks Ken, was wondering if Vic stores were getting 'em. Has anyone seen them in south eastern Melb stores - Dandenong, Cranbourne, Fountain Gate??...Sean

Bought mine yesterday afternoon - last one at the local store.
Have wanted a 2nd router to avoid taking the big Makita out of the router bench for just one little job. Have done the job by hand in preference.
Looks quite practical, has variable speed and dust extraction, 2 things that are nice for hand held use. Even comes with 1/4" collets (plus the 1/2") and has a quick zero setting arrangement for depth adjustment. It is not a plunge router. Haven't used it yet.

Bunnings Scoresby have them. Was there today and almost got one....but I have a Triton in the table so it's hard to justify a second. They also had the Random Orbital for the same price - that is damn cheap I reckon. Again, I have the Triton attached to the grinder but for that price, it's got a bigger pad and it would save changing the grinder all the time........come to think of it, I'm off - If I don't go and get one I know I'll regret it !

Me too. Bought the Router, ROS (which has 150mm and 125mm bases) as well as the 200mm Bench Grinder (you should check it out as well)

Also bought a couple of Birthday/XMas presents for others. All $39 - unbelievable!!

There were only three in Bunnys Cairns store this morning when I checked, and only one when I walked out five minutes later . I'm going to fit my rail and stile bits in them permanently, will make set up and changeover very fast.

As soon as I saw them on special I bought two. My D-Handle Makita unit costs heaps so it was an easy choice. I saw them at the wood show last year but have not seen them since, so maybe GMC thought they would not sell and are selling at cost.

I might even buy another tonight.
