The goal posts have changed - no longer a $5,000 budget
Some things have come up which means my initial $5,000 will no longer be $5,000.
I am thinking of 1. Looking for secondhand 3 phase equipment but where do you look in Perth???
2. Buying a contractors saw and a small jointer / thicknesser such as the CTJ-650 and the CTJ-196 and CT-317. What do you think of these in general?
Thanks guys
Shame I cannot spend what I wanted....maybe I should have been quicker

Thanks guys
At this stage I just want to get something
For some reason I have been so indecisive with my woodworking purchase.
I checked the quokka today and have looked online for auctions for 3 phase equipment etc but I think perhaps that I would need to be in the east coast to find a bargain.
Might be stuck with single phase and if that is the case then buying a contractors saw and low end planer and thicknesser.
All things aside will a contractor's saw etc etc do you think I would be able to have a decent shot of making furniture?

Time is your friend. Have you taken up the offer to visit Perth members workshops yet? If you visit one, he'll probably introduce you to a friend and you visit his workshop and learn something that works well, something that's not quite so good, and the network grows, and then you meet someone who knows someone who is upgrading good gear to great gear. Woodies like talking about and (usually) like people who are genuinely interested in their hobby and workshop. Build the network. The more you learn the more informed will be your final decisions.
Cheers
Graeme
