Anyone done very large end grain butcher's blocks?
Has anyone had any experience making very large end grain butcher's blocks? I'm talking 1000mm x 1000mm x 300mm. If you have, were there any problems with splitting either internal or around the edges?

I have built one 800 x 800, to my knowledge it is still going with no splitting the blocks were pulled together with two stainless steel bands 12mm thick and 50mm wide
