Gents,

For some time (about a month) I have been trying to build a grandfather clock from scratch using a Canadian plan in imperial measurements. I have found about a dozen major mistakes in the plan and a lot of grey areas caused by the plan being basically an assembly plan for a pre-cut kit, lacking a lot of key dimensions and instructions. I have overcome most of the problems, but I am stymied by the last hurdle.

The top of the clock involves a large format swan neck moulding on a pediment with a pair of matching side mouldings. This moulding is cut from 1 3/4" thich material and is 1 1/2" wide. I have made a template and cut out th e blanks on my bandsaw, but I cannot source large enough cutters for a router to make the mouldings.

On the recommendation of a cutter supplier, I tool the blanks to a local furniture manufacturer who has all the equipment. He has hummed and harred around for a week, and finally decided it was too dangerous to work on the precut blanks as they were too small to give him enough clearance for his hands. Bugger.

I am now at a standstill. Does anyone have some suggesitons as to how to tackle this problem please?
