GRR - Ripper Jig
Hey,
Iv'e always had a problem with cutting small pieces on the table saw safely and accurately. I saw these a while ago and they looked very impressive. It looks like they have added to their range and have many different uses for their jig.
I think i'll eventually buy the splitter system and their pushblock (gripper) when I upgrade my table saw.
Has anybody got the splitter or the pushblock, and if so what are your thoughts? Did you make the zero clearance insert or did you buy from them?

Thankyou
Andy

I do not have the splitters, but I do have 2 of the push blocks (the top end models). They are really good. I regularly use them on the tablesaw as well as on the router table. Watch the DVD or youtube to see how it can be used. They do provide many great ideas.

I have the top end push block and also the 1/8" leg. It hasn't had a lot of use but so far it has been good on both the tablesaw and router table. It feels quite safe, particularly when the guards are still in place.

I made my own zero clearance inserts with splitters ( see post 5) and my own version of their pushblock.
Don't use the pushblocks very much but they are handy.

I don't use splitters but I do use pushblocks and have made several from MDF.
Here is a fancy one I made a few years back.

I recently bought the Ripper System Advanced (Model 200) and just love it!
I haven't got the splitters but a few weeks ago I removed the damn upper blade guard as it was forever getting in the way. Today, as I was changing blades, I thought that I would also remove the thick kerf and replace it with a thinner splitter. That way I can also get some thinner blades.

I picked up one of the Grrr-Rippers at a woodworking show a couple years back. I don't use it all the time, but when I do it's fantastic! There are some cuts that I wouldn't dream of trying for safety sake, but with the Grrr-Ripper they were safe and accurate. I also got some of the splitters as part of the show package, but haven't installed them onto an insert yet.
Big thumbs up from me.

I ordered mine from infinity tools in Florida, worked out cheaper than Aus, even taking shipping into account.... and was able to get all the little extra bits too...
I find it useful for small pieces - but for longer/larger pieces on table saw at least, I feel better with normal push sticks and proper guards to be honest....

The Micro Jig site has international retailers: Micro Jig | Where to Buy | Woodworking Shops | Wood Working Supplies | Tools for Carpenters | Buy Micro Jig Tools | Buy Woodworking Tools | Tools for Wood Shop |
The Jet Toolshop in Townsville seems to be closet to you.
I purchased mine from Rockler and / or Woodcraft when I was recently in the states.
Once again a quick search seems to indicate that there are significant differences in prices between the USA and Australia. For the advanced Grr-Ripper and the 1/8" leg it will set you back $154.90 here or US$84.98 + shipping from the states.
The interesting thing is I purchased mine in October last year. On my return I posted on the forums the goodies that I had purchased. I made comment in that post that the difference in price on the Grr-Ripper was only $10 from where I purchased it and the only online price I could find in Australia (making it worthwhile buying here!). I am not sure if it is the same store as above but the previous $10 difference has blown out to $59.01.
