Guitar building
Greetings and salutations
I was wondering if any of you out there has ever had a go at building a wooden bodied national style resonator guitar. If so, is there any advice/suggestions that you would make. I am particularly interested in any advice regards building a 12 string resonator.
Cheers

G'day Westie
I've had vague thoughts of building a guitar but never got around to it. I played a "home made" 12 string years ago, it was great. The experience was particularly good for me as the builder, who didn't play himself was absolutely rapt, saying it was the first time he heard it and it sounded good. I was only a novice, but had learned a 12 string. I think all the other experienced players tried to do to much when 12 strings just need to ring on those open chords. Anyway, the following link is one I came across years ago and filed for further use. http://www.mimf.com/

Thanks Rod.
That is a totally cool site. I was going to build a new guitar from parts of a couple of old guitars ( which I will still probably do ) but after checking out this site I may, in fact, tackle building a new electric as well. I just have to choose between a Les Paul or a Telecaster.
Thanks again and take it easy

Westie try this link http://www.hoffmanguitars.com/building_a_guitar.htm it has a lot of information on guitar making. I've been considering making a guitar for a while. I found a great book in the library by David Russell Young called "the Steel String guitar: construction and repair" worth a look. Cheers, Peter

Thanks Pete.
An excellent site and talk about comprehensive. A full on step by step `how to' guide to steel string guitar building. Now I just need to buy that spindle shaper and a full set of imperial measuring equipment and I'm ready to go.
You guys have saved me hours of searching the net.
Cheers
