    Default the gumsu is finished.....

the SECRET PROJECT has become a bit overwhelmimg so I decided to take a 'creative break' (I've already used up my midlife crisis) and make something that, unlike the SECRET PROJECT, can be conceived, created and enjoyed within living memory,
I wanted to make something that used the beautiful rosewood that a few of us got from Bonville (thankyou underfoot and I hope Nev is on the mend) so I turned to Japanese tradition and made a gumsu (= tansu + gum leaves). Unlike a traditional tansu which was wasted on family treasures and necessities, my gumsu is made to hold CD jewel cases ......
mostly hand made (if you count holding the gifkin jig by hand), shellac, traditional wax and handles made from gumleaf key rings made by a blacksmith at last year's Snowy River Festival (who I am trying to find again!),

I'm glad you explained "gumsu"! Very nice indeed.
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Fletty Gumsu interesting name an Aussie/Japanese box with that lovely scented figured Rosewood. You suffered doing this one we know

The Secret Project is worth the wait Fletty inspiration will return good things take time.

I would suggest maybe a call to the organisers of the Festival and see if they have a contact list the Blacksmith might be on.

I think you lost me somewhere in the explanation (yeah, I reckon holding the gifkins is close enough to hand made )

    Oh, nice box

    Cheers,
