Default New Hammer (Felder) Bandsaw: N2-35

    Hi All,

Spotted this on Felder's channel and thought it may be of interest to the community. Looks like a new bandsaw in the Hammer range, sized below the N3800 and aimed more at the small workshop/hobbiest market.

    Specifics include:

    • 1ph, 1.0kW motor
    • 112kg
    • 235mm cutting height
    • 400 x 548mm table
    • -5°+45° table tilt
    • 6-20mm blade
    • Roller bearing guides (top + bottom - no ceramic option mentioned yet)
    • Tall/short dual orientation fence
    • €795 RRP -> ~AU$1300 (would assume at least $1500)
    • 1 x 100mm dust port
    • Accessories include: stand (looks essential for reasonable working heightunless bench-mounted), rolling carriage, couple of mitre fences.

    Worth a gander.

    Cheers,

    Olly

I liked the look of that because of its smaller size. Rang Felder NSW. They have no info on the unit yet and don’t know whether they will even bring it in from OS.

Guessed pricing is around $1800 - $1900 with stand. That sits it about $500 cheaper than the N3800 which has a 2hp motor vs the 1.25hp motor.

I’m not sure whether the $500 less really makes it a viable choice.

Interesting, but I cannot see me getting rid of my Hammer N4400 for the baby hammer.

The mitre gauge looks flimsy compared to the Aussie made one too, although the use of the Ali extrusion for the MG fence could be of benefit.

I appears to have an uncanny similarity to the many Chinese clones marketed as Rikon, Woodfast etc. Perhaps a more refined version hopefully.

To my eyes, it looks comparable to the Laguna 14-12, albeit less powerful and lacking ceramic guides. Perhaps the Powermatic 14" too, although I get the impression Powermatic machines may no longer be available in Australia as Carbatec might have dropped the distributorship - anyone know if that's the case?

If it is Chinese-made, it certainly looks more at the Laguna end of the market as opposed to cheaper clones. As Lappa mentioned, pricing may ultimately make it a tricky proposition, but it's another option for those seeking a small-footprint and hopefully decent quality machine.
