Hanging and rebating double doors - advice
Hi all,
I've read this forum in the past and found a lot of good information on here. I now have a question of my own I was hoping someone could help me with.
I have a little project to do this weekend which involves hanging a pair of double doors and rebating them. I didn't realise the doors needed rebating initially, or I would have had them done before I bought them. Anyway, a couple of questions.
Firstly, is there an easy way to rebate the doors on site? I assume you need some kind of router and the appropriate bit, but I'm really not sure where to start at this stage.
Secondly, is there some kind of kit for cutting the latch holes? I suppose there is nothing much to it - just a hole-saw and a big drill-bit, but if I can get all the bits I need from Bunnings or something, that would make my life a little easier.
Thanks guys!

For the rebate, easiest way on site is with a router and a straight cutter.
If you're using the router and you have an edge guide, you can just set the edge guide up for the correct width of rebate and then just make multiple passes, gradually lowering the cutter (about 5mm at a time) until you get to the depth you want.
For fitting the lock, you need a 50mm hole saw and a 1" spade bit. I have seen kits for this in Mitre 10. You'll also need a chisel to cut the mortice for the lockset and the strike plate. I use the router to remove most of the waste and then clean up with a 1" chisel."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

You can always use a mushroom stop, if the opening allows it. That is by far the easiest way.
Cheers
