Hardwood Solid Door construction
Hi,
I want to make a solid hardwood door using 19mm thick timber. Whats the best, most stable, strongest method I could use so that it does not bend, warp or change shape.
Would a full frame ledge and brace method do the job Using 19mm thick timber. once thats built then nail the planks onto the front of the frame making it a 38mm door total thickness?
Is there an alternate solution that would be better suited or should I just scrape the idea of using the 19mm timber I have altogether.
I dont really care what one side is made of or how it looks on the inside, just as long I can have a brushbox face / sides on the door.
Reason Ive raised this is I want to use the timber I have instead of purchasing 40mm thick planks and doing it that way.
thanks

How big do you want the door? This will have a significant effect on weight and hence construction methods etc. Also what is the width of the timber you have, again effects its potential for framing the door? What door thickness can the mounting location handle?
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
