Funny you say that about the f-clamps. The spring broke on mine from trade tools on the first day of use. It still works fine and I didn't bother taking it back. Shame, their clamps seem very good for the money otherwise.

Pics are forthcoming! Just need to get them off my phone. Thanks for the welcome, too! I agree about trade tools... $25 seemed like a good price for the clamps, especially since they didn't seem to have much else, and no sash clamps.

I like your subtitle thingie under your name. I, too, am a chisel-wielding computer nerd. Although over the past couple of years, I've been trying to cut down computer time (and have refused almost all requests to fix others' computers!) and do more real-life stuff, like work around the house (woodwork!) and getting out of the house and socialising. Much nicer than driving a desk! )

I agree 100% as I work in IT as my day job, so three years ago I started to get into woodworking.

Yep not a fan of being behind the desk. My back complains wildly when I spend too much time there. Thankfully that is not too often.

I'm actually gearing up to start my own bench (having got my priorities in and the dining table finished) so lurking here and there is an important pastime

Re fixing computers, I have to get that tshirt myself. But I do like helping out guys who would otherwise get totally ripped off by the likes of Harvey Norman.
