hello from scotland
Hi everyone, my name is craig and live 35 miles south of glasgow and i'm currently on the process of emigrating to australia, i've been a carpenter for about 17 years and hope to receive a skilled working visa to get into this beautifull country with my wife and three kids. Been looking at australian housing and must say i'm very impressed indeed.
I have to go through a practicle test from a company called vetassess, I would be grateful if anybody reading this could give me some pointers on how you go about on, setting out and marking a stud partition ( australian standards) with window and door, i have read about this practicle test on forums and to be honest, i'm a bit confused hence the reason i'm on this forum.
please help!

Hmm. Maybe if you don't know how to go about a stud partition you should be seeking an alnternative sponsor?

It's not that i cant do partitions, i dont know how to mark them or set them on oz standards!

Hi Craig,
I am not in the trade but most of the standards and building codes can be found by Google. The hard bit is knowing what to look for as each state has its own version of the code. Do a serch for building stsndards and building code. I built a covered in deck a few years ago and had to find out the info in order to submit a plan to the council so it is all there somewhere. The other approach is to ask your sponsor to send you the relavent
information. It is usual here to ask for information when applying for a job and in fact it shows that you are taking all possable steps to find out all you can so employers expext you to ask.

They may help, but they're aimed at apprentices, so they're very basic.
At 10 quid a pop, it could get expensive.
