Need Help
I am making a Walnut chair and there are knot holes in the wrong places that need filling.
Would epoxy and Walnut dust work?
Finish is going to be either rubbed oil or lacquer.
Advice would be appreciated.

Hi Merckx, have a look at the 'butterfly keys' thread, as most of the information there is applicable to your problem as well.

filling holes with epoxy
Merckx,
I have used the wests system epoxy to fill holes in recycled jarrah and messmate. Depending on the size of the knots etc, you have a number of options: I have not used saw dust and epoxy, I have used just epoxy, which dries clear and you can see the timber underneath! I have also used a stain (black) that I bought with the epoxy, both worked well.
If you do use the epoxy and not the butterfly technique, be sure to cover the backside of the knot hole before you fill the knot with epoxy. Kraft paper or newspaper will do.
You can overfill the hole and the epoxy will sand down quite well with some fine grit paper at the end.
