    Hi bas,
A laminate trimmer is a very versatile machine when it comes to small routing jobs I used mine for many jig jobs and templates and they are very good for small bit work 1/4" shanked router bits easy to handle and use compared to a full sized router and for occasional use there are some well priced options out there.
    Regards Rod.

I did that last year with my Triton MOF001 router, first time I'd routed freehand. I found the weight of the router helped because it was stable and I could move it precisely. I'm sure a lighter one would have been harder to control. So surprisingly I think the heavier the better. I used Fijian mahogany which was a lucky choice because it is fine grained and very homogeneous.

I printed the letters individually, cut them out, stuck them on the wood with masking tape, traced round them with pencil, cleaned up the traced lines and redid them with a fine felt tip, roughed out with a square profile cutter, finished to the lines with a 'V' shaped cutter. It turned out really well and still looks good.
    Cheers, Glen
