Default Help needed with 50's style kitchen.

We're remodelling our kitchen around the groovy stove purchased by the previous owners in 1950. We've kept two underbench skin on frame cabinets and made new overheads to match. Unfortunately, I didn't plan well and left the sourcing of laminate for the benchtops till very late in the scheme of things. It seems the older style laminates are rare, perhaps extinct. Does anyone know where I might find such stuff? Some time ago, a freind told me about a place in Dandenong that has loads of old Laminex and Formica etc. He has since denied ever knowing such a thing, as have all my associates that I have quizzed about it. Perhaps I dreamt it.

I was on a driving holiday on the west coast recently and met a bloke with a restored 1950s van. I commented on the laminate in the kitchen. He said it wasn't hard to get. Of course, I didn't ask him where he got it as I had no need to know. But I bet there is a 'caravan restoration forum' out there and someone on it would be able to steer you in the right direction.
