    Default Help identifying wood

    High,

    I am hoping someone can tell me what wood this is? Also what are the little black spots?

    Appears to be a veneered board to me from Photo 1 as the joints in the face do appear on the side.

    Looks like walnut to me and the black spots I agree look like mould. Occasionally that spotting could be from iron filing contamination but it looks more like mould. It could be a veneered board. Dampen a cloth with a spray of vinegar water 1:1 and wipe over the mould to retard tge growth of the mould, add a couple of drops of clove oil to the spray bottle to kill it.
