Help : how to install drawers in a knock down wardrobe
Hi there guys!
I would like to build a traditional post and beam wardrobe for which I saw a design in the internet. This is by far the most complex thing I've ever tried to do.
Due to its big dimensions, it is a knock down design. The main structure consists of 4 posts connected by rails that are pegged to the posts.
My problem is that the original design doesn't contain any drawer, but I would like to add 2 or 3 drawers at the bottom. I planned to use wooden dividers and runners to support the drawers, but the question is that I don't know how to install them and keep the knock down feature of the design. At least I would like to be able to disassemble the dividers.
Being an apprentice, I don't know if there is any traditional o recommended approach to this, and I would prefer to hear some advice from you guys before trying someting on my own.
Any help will be more than wellcome.
Thank you very much.

Not quite sure what you mean, but have you considered a separate carcase with drawers that can be screwed to the legs or top (whatever) and unscrewed if you want to shift it all?

If there is an IKEA store near you maybe take a look at some of their furniture for ideas.

Hello again,
Just to clarify : I intend to build a wardrobe more or less like the one shown in the attachment. I have seen a similar knock down project, but without the drawers at the bottom. The thing is that for other traditional pieces of forniture, when there is more than one drawer, I always have seen drawers running on top of web frames (drawer dividers on the front + runners on the sides). Since I have always seen dividers glued to the sides in dados or sliding dovetails, I was wondering if one can build something similar, but still being knock down. But of course, glue is not a solution this time, it has to be screwed, pegged or whathever.
JillB, thank you very much for your solution, I think separate drawer unit would definetively work in this case, although it will add some extra weight. I will certainly consider it.
Thank you very much everybody.
