    Default Need help laminates!

    Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a laminate project which involves 3 pieces of 2mm timber and I need to glue them together and give them a shape.
Now, I have the mould ready and I know the basics for laminates, however, I have a little problem with my project.

The piece that goes in the middle is smaller than the ones on the outside so I tried using techniglue which worked really well giving I the shape I need but as the glue squeezes out when under pressure, it pretty much impossible to clean afterwards.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me letting me know what glue to use or how to prevent the glue from squeezing out.

    Thanks a lot!!

Glue will always squeeze out when you laminate. Techniglue or other epoxy is probably the best glue for the job.
If you can put wax on all the areas where excess glue is likely to stick, it will be easy to remove. Best to remove it after about 5 hours, before it reaches full hardness.

To prevent too much glue squeeze out I uaully wait for a minute or two before commencing to bring the pieces together. If the glue is tacky and not liquid any longer, it helps with squeeze out. but agree, some squeeze out is normal.
If you use PVA glue, you can wipe off the excess glue with a wet/damp clean cloth.
    Reality is no background music.

Your description implies that you have cut your plies to the exact size required for the component.
This is possibly unwise. It's usually better to make the laminated component oversize so it can be trimmed to size once completed.
Then most any glue will work.
