Default Help with measurements of childs chair.

I am making a table and chair for a 10 month old who is just walking. I have decided to make the table about 50 cm high and I think that will server the little one for at least a couple of years or so. The problem is I am not sure how high to make the chair for her to sit on. How high to make the seat from the floor and how high to make the backrest etc. Has anyone got an idea what would be a suitable height etc to make the chair, bearing in mind that it would have to suit her for a couple of years or so.
I have never made a chair before so am completely lost here. Does anyone have a plan for a child's chair or any ideas how to make one. Not too high difficulty level of course.. The table and chair set is for her birthday so I have about 8 weeks to make it
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

PS I am making the set out of Pine.

I made a table and chair about 2 years ago HERE

The table top is 600 x 600, the height is 520.
The chair seat is 250 high, 300 deep and 270 wide.

I didn't have any plans, just made it up as i went along. Using the height of a coffee table as a guide, and figured the height of the seat should be about 1/2 that. The width of the seat was determined by the width of the 3 planks, as was the table top. The depth of the seat was determined, by how much of the planks i had left over. I think the proprtions I used worked out well.
It is used every day by now both my kids and cops a pounding, and not showing any sign of loose joints. It even handles my weight as i sit on them a lot as well. The oldets is about to turn 4.

Don't forget to leave room for the kids legs.

Thanks Bob, thanks zelk and thanks Brian I appreciate that information. I was thinking myself around 300mm for the height of the seat but wasn't sure.

can you wait till after next weekend?
Dad made my son a folding table and two chairs when he was about 15 months old.
He's now 10 and still uses them (though he's now a bit big for the chairs)

I can measure and photograph the table in the morning
However, the plans for the chairs are at dad's who I'll next see at the weekend.
    regards from Alberta, Canada

John, a general rule of thumb that I use for custom chair height is to measure the distance from behind the knee (where the knee bends) to the ground and take off 10mm. That’s your seat height. It’s very comfortable when seated as your feet are comfortably flat on the floor.
You could always make the legs out of Tassie oak or similar and bore a 25mm dowel hole up through the bottom and insert and fix the appropriate length dowel as the little 10 month old gets taller. It will be strong enough, and look good if you taper the base of the main legs.

    the table is 640 x 455 x 440 (W x D x H), the legs fold in and are secured with a 1/4 or 3/8 bolt to prevent an accidental collapse

    the chair
front legs are 240, rear legs 455,
the seat is 340 across the front 240 deep and 230 from the floor
