Help needed- please
I picked up some White Ash today most of it is milled as per specs but one piece which is 1050x260X50 I need 20mm taken off so its 1050x260x30.
Can and one assist or advise where in Western Sydney I could get this done.
I can wait till after Christmas.
Its all for a Loom Bench for LOML for Christmas/Birthday.

Well underway
My project with this White Ash is well underway with the rudimentary tools I have.
It will end up a Loom Bench I hope
Its a real nice timber to work with smells great only one trouble it causes my psoriasis to flare up on my hands could be the oil in the timber.
grain is great looking will be finishing with Danish Oil.

Where to start
As I bought most of the timber milled I decided to cut to size what I needed and store the rest for turning and box making.
A piece Fletty cut off the main bench section ended up at 10mm is stored inside the house safe from harm its 250x1050x10mm.
I had the feet of the Bench to make first they were going to take the longest.
These had to cut from a piece 80x175x1050 all done by handsaw ( need the practice and helps strenght my hands and loose some weight)
Jigsaw and coping saw for the shape then sanded and routed outer edges still have to do the mortise and then seperate into two feet and route the inside edge.
prgoress has been slow but the heat by mid afternoon is a killer.

Legs
The legs of the bench have the height adjustment holes drilled and tenon marked out the holes are offset by 10mm to slope the bench seat forward approx 5deg's I changed the plan as I was working so have yet to check actual slope.
This morning I got around to router edging the legs bench seat and tool caddy/ bottom support pieces will post photo's later on.

Not building the loom Les
Just the bench seat
I have adapted a design of borrowed one LOML is using while I build this one
This one is longer and a wider seat, deeper storage box, stronger feet and arched to fit over the Looms bottom beam for easy storage.

Progress update
Well Alan here we go
Photo 1 2 3
Got the feet morticed and handsawn in two I am proud of these best square and straight cut I have done for ages. Yes had to still plane and clean up a bit then router the inside to match the outside edges. Did that today will take photos tomorrow.
Not all went well the grain as I got through was jamming the saw and I had to use wedges and in the end a dare I say it hacksaw to finish it with the last little bit
Photo 4 these are the seat supports which have been freehand routed for the adjustment bolts.
Photo 5 side pieces all rounded with a 1/2 round over bit.
Photo 6 7 8 9 these were one piece which are the bottom brace and routed 3/16" x 1/4 to allow ply to become a base for storage area.
Again patting myself on the back full length handsawn not as good as the feet but ok a quick plane sorted it out..

Slowly Getting There
Next stage the mortise and tenons both routed tenons finished up with handsaw and chisel
glue with PVA I was going to use Epoxy but decided against it.
Fitted Seat adjustment blocks screwd 3/16th S/T and glued PVA
It got a sand back to 120 and first coat of sanding sealer.
