Help please with small internal wall and door?
Hello
I am constructing a small internal wall...1800cm. We would like to place a small 620 door about 24cm along this wall. It is not a Load Bearing Wall.
Do I have to put in Trimmer/Jack studs? Or can I just use a King studs and a noggin as header since it is only a small distance?
If so, is the total opeing width about 675...for door, Jambs and adjustments?
Any help would be appreciated
Many thanks
Bil

Bill, I'm tipping to meant lintel instead of trimmer. Answer is no. Nogging it out will be fine. Seeing you are spanning more than 600 centres though, a middle jack stud between it and your top plate is the way to go. Cut 2 extra while your at it at chuck them in at either end of the nogg and fix to the studs of the opening. Remember to set the nogg 5 -10 mm higher than the jamb head. Don't pack and or nail the head to the nogg either.
Craig.
