The batmakers suggest vice number 5 or number 5 vice.

They seem to be varying a lot in pricing.

Well, I like Dawn: Vices, Clamps, Hand Tools, Destaco, Carver, Stainless Steel Vices and Clamps but between you and me, two sturdy, parallel bits of timber bolted to something that's not going anywhere and a long slender wedge would do the trick.

To create the Burr on the edge of a scraper;First you need to clean up the previous edge (or manufactured edge if first use). This needs to be filed off, a Mill File, Oilstone or Diamond hone is useful (not a waterstone, they are too soft for the hardness of the scraper). Flatten both flat sides and then the edge (scraping) face. Next, place scraper in a vise (it can be held but more difficult). Draw the burnisher (made as I described or bought or another tool shank) lengthways along the edge, from the centre to the corner (in both directions). It may take a couple of passes, you'll be able to feel the burr with your fingernail. Once created change the angle of the burnisher to give a 5 - 10 degree tilt and make one more pass.I'm sat at work (don't tell on me) writing this and so cannot see YouTube, but if you search there will be a video demonstrating the whole method.
