    Default Hinges

    Hi,

This is my first post and am hoping to get some advice around choosing the correct hinges. I have a cabinet and bookshelf which is a part of fireplace surround which I am building. I hadn’t initially planned on adding doors but now I feel I need them.
I am not sure what hinges to use, I’ve never had the need to fit doors before.

The face frame is only 12mm thick. It is 20mm of the inside left wall and 10mm of the right.
I am guessing I didn’t scribe the top well enough to the wall, so any thoughts on how I should fix that would be good to.
I am reasonably new to doing this sort of work so any advice would be appreciated.

What sort of doors? I think that standard kitchen cabinet type overlay hinges could work. You'd need to put a packer/filler inside the face frame so the hinges are flush. There is a choice of 'overhang' and degrees of opening available.

Standard inset cabinet hinges are the way to go, just need to pack out spots for the mounting plates

Thanks, added some timber to pack out the space as suggested, then put in some butt hinges. In hindsight should have put smaller hinges in for the top. Think it needs to be adjusted a little to get the spacing on the top left cupboard more even.
Am happy with how it has come up. My son chose the handles. Put a double knit fabric in the middle as there is a sub woofer and PlayStation in the cupboard. The fabric is not the straightest, I can live with it though.
Now will need to add some fans to get rid of the heat and kick boards. Shared album - Daniel Frew - Google Photos
