    Default HNT Gordon Smoothing Plane?

I intend to order one of the aforementioned planes in a couple of weeks as a reward to myself for finishing my exams (ok, ok, and because they are beautiful, and because I despise sanding.) In the meantime, to keep me from going insane from studying I was hoping someone who already has this plane could reccomend some internal dimensions for a box to store it in. (Not, fondling type display box, a storage box that will protect it from me dropping things on it.)

    Thanks in advance.

PS: I did have a look at the dimensions on the website, but I would prefer someone who has the plane to confirm my plans.

They come in a nice solid carboard box. Perfect fit, just need to find out those dimesions if you must build a better box.

    Thanks Benny,

Anyone care to enlighten me as to the dimensions of said cardboard box please?

(It's more that I need a small project to keep me sane through exam period than I do really need a box to protect it.)

    Box
    82W x 238L x 47H

The box is longer than the plane body so the handle will fit in.
If you want to leave the blade in the plane then you'll need about 90mm of height (for a HSS blade) and about 80mm (for a tool steel blade), don't know why but the HSS blade I've got is approx 10mm longer than the tool steel blade and it's not due to grinding and sharpening.
