Default Which hole saw to get?

When I first started renovating, i got this hole saw for making a hole for my door locks. Worked well and its used will a cordless drill.

Didnt get the set but just a single piece, the size i need.

I also see other types with different cutting edge and i wonder will they still cut through wood well?

If they made the cutting edge different there must be a specific use for it. I dont know which ones to invest in if i buy. Just got a bench drill too.

I primarily use these for wood only.

Or should I just use forstner bits if i want to cut a through hole? I guess it will work for bench drill but too unstable for handheld drill?

The Sutton uses TCT teeth and will cut through abrasive materials such as fibro sheeting. The Lennox uses hardened steel teeth with will cut through steel. Either will cut wood; neither will cut particularly smoothly.

Brad pointed bits produce the cleanest holes up to about 1/2”, above that then forstner bits but if you don’t need smooth bored holes then spade bits, speedbore bits and old fashioned irwin/scotch/jennings auger bits are fine and usually cheaper.

Almost any bit can be used in a hand drill but a drill press will always give a cleaner hole.
